Katy Edwards
I am pleased to introduce myself. I am Kathryn "Katy". I am originally from the Greater Salt Lake City area in the beautiful state of Utah. I started my healthcare career in high school when I worked as a CNA at a nursing home. I graduated from Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) with my RN in 2003. After graduation, I completed a 6-month comprehensive Critical Care Internship at the University of Utah Hospital, and went on to be an ICU nurse. From there, I completed my BSN at the U of U. My nursing career consisted of 90% ICU nursing and about 10% ER nursing. I attended Westminster College (SLC, Utah), and graduated with my Master's degree in Nursing (FNP) in 2011. Directly after graduation, I went on to be a Hospitalist/Internal medicine NP and I am still doing hospitalist medicine to this day. I have been working with an Infectious Disease group since before the pandemic on a per diem basis.
My husband, myself and my dogs moved to the DFW Texas area in 2016. That same year we welcomed our one and only child, a beautiful and sassy daughter.
My hobbies include traveling, reading, watching football, working out, dogs/animals, family time, and being out in nature. I am also a huge True Crime TV/movie buff.
My strengths include being well-driven and hardworking (I am a Capricorn, so duh!) and making people laugh. My weaknesses include falling asleep WITHOUT taking Ambien and laughing at inappropriate times as an unhealthy coping skill to mask my emotions.
I hope everyone enjoys playing "Who Calls the Shots" as much as I enjoyed the process of its creation. Thanks to all the healthcare workers out there, especially to those who aided in inspiration for some of the "Who" cards (hahahah).

Hey "yall" I have adapted to a new southern term since I have made my way to Texas from where I grew up in Independence, WI. I grew up in the midwest, also attending Winona State University for my Bachelors of Science in Nursing, started my nursing career in several hospitals in the Twin Cities. During this time I also attended the University of Minnesota where I graduated with a dual masters as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner & Masters in Healthcare Administration.
I had traveled to Hawaii to chase a dream to be on a travel assignment there where I fell in love with my Navy spouse and decided to make it home for about 8 years. In that time I also obtained my Family Nurse Practitioner degree & started also teaching as faculty sharing my love for educating others. As a military spouse we were transferred to Florida & later Virginia, and now have been in Texas for the last 10 years. I obtained my DNP at the University of Texas -Arlington & professionally I am content if I never have to endure another APA format paper again (wink).
I currently work in Infectious Disease, with experience in Internal Medicine & cardiology respectively over the last 20+ years of my career. We relocated to Texas with a newborn, and have welcomed 2 additional boys to complete our line up of Hayden, Nolen, & Lincoln. #boymom
I certainly enjoy country music, gym time, cheer for the Wisconsin Badgers... and most of the time the Dallas Cowboys (ha). As well as spending time with friends & family near & far.
I really hope you have chosen to grab a copy or gift "Who Calls the Shots" today, we are so excited to have brought to the healthcare sector a game we have thoroughly enjoyed putting together!
